27-Feb-2008 - The Palmetto Amateur web site is functional, including the capability to register online. Just click the registration link on the home page and select Register from the next page. As part of the registration process you will be asked for credit card information. If you desire to instead pay by check or money order please notify Palmetto Golf Club at 803.649.9651 and your credit card will not be billed if you are selected as a contestant.
21-Mar-2008 - There have been intermittent problems with the web site but it is currently functional. Note recent updates to the Hotel Listing page.
02-Apr-2008 - Registration is proceeding, with an even 50 players having registered through the web site. The process this year is to first issue automatic invitations such as Top 20 from 2007, Past Champions for the last 10 years, etc. Invitations are also given to a number of highly ranked national and international players. Concurrently, we will examine submitted resumes and issue invitations to those that stand out above the others. The number of invitations remaining will depend on the response from earlier invitees. At the end of the process, we expect to have 80 golfers selected and committed to the tournament. That will leave four spots to be awarded to the successful qualifiers from the Qualifying Rounds on 9-Jun-2008 and 16-Jun-2008.
02-Apr-2008 - The Tournament Committee is happy to announce that there will be a Mid-Am competition held in conjunction with the tournament proper. Eligible are contestants who are 25 years or older on the first day of the competition, or 18-Jun-2008. A Mid-Am Champion trophy will be awarded to the winner and several gift certificates will also be awarded, the number dependent on the number of Mid-Am contestants in the final field.
