Aiken Sertoma Club

The Aiken Sertoma Club promotes service to the community, good citizenship and good government, freedom and opportunity, mutual understanding and tolerance for all people, positive peer association and friendship and fellowship as opportunites to serve.

Organized in 1971, the Aiken Sertoma Club is one of the leading clubs in Sertoma International, a world-wide civic service organization with clubs in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe.

The Aiken Sertoma Club is an active member in the community. Working with the Aiken Steeplechase Association. the Aiken Sertoma Club helps sponsor the Spring and Fall Steeplechases. These events bring large crowds from all over the United States. The Spring Steeplechase marks the beginning of the steeplechase circuit and is part of the rich horse tradition of Aiken, SC. Sertoma members sell ads, direct traffic, collect admission and perform other duties during the two Steeplechase events.

The Aiken Sertoma Club is the charitable beneficiary of one of the most prestigious amateur golf events, the Palmetto Amateur. The tournament is held at the famous Palmetto Golf Club. Amateurs from around the country and even from around the world participate in this event.

Money raised by the Aiken Sertoma Club go to:

  • Programs for the speech and hearing impaired
  • The Sertoma Foundation
  • Camp Sertoma
  • Scholarships to USC Aiken, Aiken High School and South Aiken High School
  • Aiken County Heart Walk
  • Youth baseball
